ArmInfo. Exports of Armenian fruits and vegetables to European Union markets are seeing daily growth, as stated by Tigran Petrosyan, Chairman of the Food Safety Inspectorate (FSIB), during a press conference on July 17.
He noted that 50 trucks currently loaded with Armenian apricots are prepared for export to this emerging European market, and the Ministry of Economy would provide more detailed information next week.
"Years ago, the prevailing view was that we could not compete in the EU market, as it already offered more exotic and diverse fruit varieties," Petrosyan said. "However, experience has proven that with sufficient commitment, we are fully capable of exporting and successfully selling our products."
Recall, in May, Rosselkhoznadzor imposed temporary restrictions on the import of all quarantine products from Armenia, including vegetables, fruits, herbs, and dried fruits, and also suspended transit through Russia to EAEU countries. The official reason cited was the alleged detection of quarantine organisms.
