ArmInfo. Since the beginning of the year, the number of beneficiaries of the universal health insurance system has increased by 14%, as announced by Samvel Kharazyan, Acting Director General of the Universal Health Insurance Fund, during a July 22 press conference .
At the beginning of the year, the number of beneficiaries served by the health insurance system stood at 1.6 million, reaching approximately 1.8 million by June. The lion's share of this growth is driven by salaried employees earning over AMD 200,000 and private entrepreneurs.
"This growth is driven by an increase in the number of citizens earning a salary exceeding AMD 200,000. Their number has grown by 30% since the beginning of the year, primarily due to economic growth indicators and the creation of new jobs," Kharazyan said. In this context, he noted that many employers, either at the request of their employees or on their own initiative, have revised salary levels to make the universal health insurance system accessible to their staff.
The acting head of the Fund also noted that out of the 1.8 million beneficiaries in the system, 762,404 people have utilized medical services. Among them, 35,900 individuals received prescription medications. "In other words, every second insured person has utilized the system or received medications," Kharazyan said. In total, the state has already allocated AMD 102.4 billion to cover medical services and provide medications.
