ArmInfo. The Eurasian Development Bank has updated the "Observatory of Transport Projects of the Eurasian Transport Corridor (ETC)" — a digital platform that accumulates data on the development of transport corridors in 13 countries.

According to the Bank, as of July 1, 2026, the database contains 402 projects with a total investment volume of $345 billion. In 2025, infrastructure worth $10 billion was commissioned, and the portfolio was supplemented by 70 new projects worth $74 billion.

The report notes that the size of investments in the development of Eurasian transport projects has reached a record level. In addition to the implementation and planning of the aforementioned 402 projects totaling $345 billion, another $100 billion is allocated to projects yet to be launched. Transport infrastructure remains one of the largest long-term priorities for the countries in the region.

The main beneficiary is the railways. Nearly $150 billion is directed towards the development of the railway sector, making it a key driver of investment growth in Eurasia. Central Asian countries account for more than 21% of all investments — $72 billion in 114 projects. In 2025 alone, transport infrastructure facilities worth $6 billion were commissioned there.

Meanwhile, Russia remains a key investor: it accounts for $225 billion in investments or 65% of the Eurasian region's volume. The largest investment project is the modernization of the Eastern railway polygon.

Honest business is also actively entering the transport and logistics infrastructure sector. Private capital participates in 123 projects, with almost half of them in the warehouse and logistics infrastructure sector. Another 27 projects may be implemented on public-private partnership (PPP) principles.

The role of international development banks is also growing in these projects. MDBs are already involved in 48 projects, and another 29 promising initiatives are planned to be financed with their involvement.

China is increasing its participation in transport projects in Central Asia as well. It is involved in the implementation of more than 20 such projects, and the volume of funds attracted from Chinese sources already exceeds $7 billion.

In terms of value, the largest volume of investments in the development of the Eurasian Transport Corridor is in the railway sector (42.8%), and by country — in Russia (65.3%) or $225.2 billion. Notably, 8 out of the 10 largest infrastructure projects for the development of the Eurasian Transport Corridor are being implemented in Russia.

The development of the Northern Eurasian corridor is the most capital-intensive. The total investment volume is estimated at $84.8 billion, which accounts for more than a quarter of the total capital expenditures of the entire Eurasian Transport Corridor. The total cost of developing the ITC "North-South" in 2025 is estimated at $52.8 billion (excluding the Moscow – Saint Petersburg HSR).

More than 62% of the total number of projects for the development of the Eurasian Transport Corridor by investment size are in the implementation stage. Another 8.8% of the total number of projects are in the stage of preparing project documentation. 29% of projects are in the planning stage.

Central Asian countries account for more than 21% of the investments directed towards the development of the Eurasian Transport Corridor. There are 114 projects being implemented or planned for implementation with a total amount exceeding $71.75 billion. More than 45% of this amount is accounted for by projects implemented in Kazakhstan. Almost 56% of investments in Central Asian countries are directed towards the development of the road network, indicating the significant role of road transport in the development of international transportation and trade in the region. Another 29.8% of investments are directed towards the development of railway sections of transport corridors passing through Central Asia.

The majority of investments in the development of the Eurasian Transport Corridor in Central Asia — $42.8 billion — are directed towards the development of sections of the TRACECA corridor, including the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. The 10 largest transport corridor development projects account for 42% of the total investment volume in the development of the Eurasian Transport Corridor in Central Asian countries.
