ArmInfo. On July 30, Ameriabank held its latest Investor Day, this time dedicated to the first half of the year in financial markets. The event began with an analysis of the S&P 500 stock index, which includes shares of 500 of the world's largest companies, including Apple, Nvidia, Google, Amazon, and others.
Gurgen Ayvazyan, Chief Financial Markets Analyst at Ameriabank, presented charts and statistics to the meeting participants and explained that the top ten companies in the S&P 500 index account for a market capitalization of $74 trillion, while the market capitalization of the entire US stock market is $77 trillion. According to him, the technology sector, particularly the semiconductor segment, accounts for the largest share by industry share, quadrupling growth since 2020. It's followed by the energy sector. Communications accounts for the smallest share.
The speaker also analyzed his own forecast made six months ago, presented new expectations for the second half of the year, and answered questions from meeting participants.
However, the main news of Investor Day was the announcement of new terms for investors on the My Invest platform.
Ameriabank Investment Tribe Director Artush Yengibaryan announced that users who make regular purchases and allocate part of their salary to investments will now be able to make purchases on the My Invest platform with a $1 commission, up from the previous $5. "I'm sure many have been waiting for this news. I think this opportunity will bring everyone to a platform offering sound, long-term investments," he said. The speaker introduced the service's updated functionality to participants, allowing them to choose not only the number of shares to purchase but also the recurring payment amount and investment frequency. "80% of your investment portfolio's success depends on discipline. And we take this burden of discipline on ourselves - My Invest becomes your investment autopilot," Ayvazyan emphasized.
He also reported: "In the first half of the year, the number of investors on the My Invest platform grew by 72%, indicating that the platform is becoming more accessible and user-friendly. Investors under 35 remain the most active group. At the same time, users aged 18 to 24 are showing the highest growth rates. This is encouraging, as it indicates that young people are taking a more prudent approach to managing their savings." He noted that women have also become significantly more active on the platform: their number has increased by 85%, and the volume of their transactions has tripled. He named Nvidia, Snap Inc., and S&P 500 stocks as the most popular purchases.
