"Strong Armenia": Baku should compensate Yerevan for power  transmission line route through Armenian territory

ArmInfo Baku must pay Yerevan for routing a power transmission line across Armenian territory, according to Narek Karapetyan, head of the opposition  faction "Strong Armenia."

According to him, payment should be made not only for the power line,  but also for the railway and road.  Moreover, this infrastructure  should be a road, not a corridor, and control over its safety and  efficiency should rest with the Armenian side. Any other  classification threatens the sovereignty of the Armenian state.  Karapetyan noted that information about the Azerbaijani specialists'  exploration of the Meghri area came not from government agencies, but  through unofficial channels, which has raised legitimate concerns.   The discussion should be exclusively about a road under Armenian  control, not an extraterritorial corridor through which transit is  possible after payments are made and there are no threats to  sovereignty.

Karapetyan also commented on the assertions of Azerbaijani President  Ilham Aliyev, who claims that Armenia will face a severe energy  crisis after the closure of the nuclear power plant. In this regard,  the faction leader noted that Armenia has every opportunity not only  to construct a new nuclear power plant but also to develop renewable  energy sources.
