ArmInfo. Businesses that made export shipments in July of this year will receive 5.365 billion drams in financial assistance from the state budget, following a decision adopted at a session of the Armenian Cabinet.
Presenting the initiative, Acting Deputy Minister of Economy Arman Khojoyan noted that the government decision stems from the need to fulfill obligations under a support measure for exporters of certain greenhouse produce, fresh fruits, food products, and beverages.
According to operational data from the State Revenue Committee, July export volumes included: 200 tons of strawberries, 1,250 tons of tomatoes, 367 tons of cherry tomatoes, 2,325 tons of peppers, and 3.6 million flowers, of which 0.5 million went to EU member states, the United Kingdom, the United Kingdom of Northern Ireland, and Switzerland. Also exported were 7,000 tons of apricots, 430 tons of plums, 1,715 tons of cherries, 1,645 tons of peaches and nectarines, 0.2 million liters of bottled natural mineral water, and 800,000 tons of cognac.
The Deputy Minister also noted the progress in export diversification. Over the past two months, fruit and beverage shipments have been made to 26 countries, and vegetables to 14 countries. Moreover, each market requires tailored compliance with local regulations. Comparing these figures with last year's data reveals a visible decline, which officials attribute to lower production volumes resulting from heavy rainfall in May and June.
