ArmInfo. Ensuring the safety of Armenian agricultural products imported to Russia and meeting mandatory requirements for them are conditions for resuming their supply to the Russian market, according to the Russian Ministry of Agriculture.
"Ensuring the safety of agricultural products, including the use of domestic raw materials by Armenian producers, pesticide control, traceability of supplies, and other mandatory requirements is the most important condition for resuming imports of goods currently subject to restrictions," the Ministry of Agriculture stated following a meeting between the head of the ministry, Oksana Lut, and Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan, which took place as part of the 7th meeting of the EAEU Council on Agro-Industrial Policy in Almaty, Interfax reports. Lut called compliance of goods supplied to Russia with veterinary and phytosanitary standards of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) an absolute priority.
The Russian side noted the need for unconditional compliance with current regulations and the development of an algorithm to ensure the safety of shipped products. Due to complaints about the quality and safety of products from Armenia, Rosselkhoznadzor imposed a ban on the import of flowers on May 22; fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, green vegetables, and strawberries on May 30; stone fruits (cherries, sweet cherries, apricots, plums, peaches, and nectarines) and fresh grapes on June 2; pome fruits, eggplants, potatoes, and dried fruits on June 3; and all quarantine products on June 12. In addition, certification of live fish and fish products intended for export to Russia has been suspended since June 2, and imports of dairy products have been restricted since July 27.
