ArmInfo. Armenia will experience no supply or procurement issues regarding tomatoes this year, as stated by Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan.
According to the Ministry of Economy, Papoyan visited the Artashat Cannery to inspect the tomato procurement process firsthand. He was accompanied by Ararat Province Governor Sedrak Tevonyan and Artashat community leader Karlen Mkrtchyan.
Guided by Vachagan Karapetyan, CEO of the plant, the minister toured the facilities, reviewed the production cycle, and monitored the procurement operations. Company representatives assured the minister that they are prepared to purchase the entire volume of tomatoes offered by local farmers, with purchase prices set between 40 and 80 drams.
"We will not face any issues with tomato procurement this year. We will continue to monitor the purchasing process on a daily basis," Minister Papoyan stated.
The tomato procurement season kicked off on August 3. To date, 4,700 tons of tomatoes have already been purchased, with the Artashat Cannery leading the volume at 1,800 tons.
The Artashat Cannery is one of Armenia's major food processing enterprises. It is a steadily expanding company with an annual capacity of 40 million canned goods, seeing continuous growth in its production volumes.
