The Armenian delegation, headed by RA Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure David Khudatyan, will participate in the 70th session of the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed the decision to send Khudatyan.
According to the government press service, the Armenian minister will be sent to Vienna for a period of September 13-15.
The 70th regular session of the IAEA General Conference will be held from September 14-18, 2026, in Vienna, Austria, at the Vienna International Center (VIC). This anniversary forum will be a significant milestone in the history of the Agency, which dates back to its founding in 1957. The session is organized in a hybrid format, with in-person delegation meetings in the M and C buildings of the Vienna International Centre, as well as an open online broadcast of key sessions. Representatives of Member States and international experts will discuss nuclear and radiation safety, the reliability of nuclear fuel supply chains, the development of advanced nuclear technologies, and the financing of new projects. The traditional Scientific Forum as part of the conference will be held on September 15-16. This time, it will be dedicated to nuclear medicine, in particular, cancer diagnostics and radiation therapy as part of the IAEA's flagship initiative, Rays of Hope.
As a reminder, Armenia has been a member of the IAEA since 1993. The Agency oversees the only operating nuclear facility in the country. Cooperation with the IAEA is developing effectively not only in nuclear energy, but also in nuclear medicine and other areas of the country's economy.
