ArmInfo. In the first half of 2026, Armenia accelerated the annual decline in gold exports from 82% to 85.1%, exporting 1.587 thousand kg. According to data from the Customs Service of the Republic of Armenia, the customs value decreased by 80% to $203.7 million.
The lion’s share of exports went to the UAE market (57.8%), with slightly less supplied to India (38.3%) and Hong Kong (3.8%), while only negligible volumes went to Italy, Georgia and the Russian Federation.
Gold imports also continued to decline — by 86.4% (compared with an 85% decline a year earlier), amounting to 1.357 thousand kg in the first half of 2026. The customs value of imported gold decreased by 78.6% to $208.3 million.
Russia is the main importer of gold to Armenia (97.5%), while the UAE accounts for only 8%. More negligible volumes come from the US, Thailand, Sierra Leone, Switzerland and Germany.
According to statistical data, in the first half of 2026, the output of the jewelry industry increased by 17% year-on-year to 14.5 billion drams ($39.5 million). Over the two-year period, the share of precious metals/stones in exports decreased from 71% to 17%, and in imports from 55% to 6%, amounting to $589 million and $394 million, respectively, in the first half of 2026.
