Arminfo. The poverty rate in Armenia at the end of 2025 will be lower than the 2024 figure. Minister of Labor and Well-Being Arsen Torosyan said this during the government question-and-answer session in Parliament, responding to questions from lawmakers.
Noting that the final figures for 2025 have not yet been calculated, he recalled that at the end of 2024, the poverty rate stood at 21.7%, while extreme poverty stood at 0.6%.
The minister based his assessment of the country’s progress in overcoming poverty on a number of other indirect indicators recorded in the country in 2025, including the unemployment rate, the number of unemployed and employed people, GDP per capita, and so on.
<All these indicators only show that poverty in our country has decreased and continues to decrease. And I am confident that the figures published for 2025 will be lower than those for 2024.>, Torosyan said, noting that Armenia is close to eliminating extreme poverty.
Meanwhile, let us recall that in its November 2025 study, the World Bank forecast a decline in Armenia’s poverty rate based on purchasing power parity (PPP) ($8.3 per day - the indicator updated in 2021 ) from 56.2% in 2024 to 53.1% by 2027. According to the study, Armenia’s poverty rate based on the PPP indicator was 55.7% in 2022, 56.9% in 2023, and 56.2% in 2024.
