ArmInfo. The government is discussing the possibility of raising the minimum wage. Eduard Aghajanyan, a member of parliament from the ruling Civil Contract party, told reporters during a briefing on September 18.
He also noted that discussions are underway, including with the private sector, since, as the deputy emphasized, the labor market independently regulates such issues.
When asked to clarify whether it would be possible to raise the minimum wage starting January 1, 2027, as in the government apparatus, Aghajanyan was unable to answer.
Agajanyan also stated that a KPI (Key Performance Indicator) system will be introduced for calculating salaries in the government, allowing for the performance of individual officials to be assessed. He noted that implementing such a standard for MPs is impossible. "The effectiveness of a parliamentarian's work should be assessed by citizens during the next parliamentary elections, when deciding whether to grant them a mandate," Aghajanyan said.
As a reminder, the minimum wage has been increased from 68,000 drams to 75,000 drams since September 2023.
