On September 22, Sargis Khandanyan, Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, met with a delegation led by Luo Qingqian, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National People's Congress of China and Head of the China-Armenia Friendship Group.
According to the NA press service, welcoming the guests, Sargis Khandanyan emphasized that interparliamentary relations between Armenia and China are at a high level. According to the committee chairman, relations between the two countries received new impetus after the conclusion of a strategic partnership agreement last year. It was noted that the document provides an opportunity to deepen cooperation between Armenia and China in a number of areas.
"China is one of Armenia's main trading partners." "We have impressive bilateral trade figures, but there is great potential for developing trade and economic relations, in particular in terms of a wider representation of Armenian products in China," Sarkis Khandanyan noted, emphasizing the importance of developing bilateral political relations, as well as common positions on issues of mutual interest.
Luo Qingqiang, expressing gratitude for the invitation and warm welcome, noted that bilateral relations have further developed since the establishment of a strategic partnership. The head of the delegation, thanking the Armenian side for supporting the "One China" principle, noted that China respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia. The Chairman of the Commission expressed confidence that within the framework of the "One Belt, One Road" initiative and the "Crossroads of the World" project, The Government of the Republic of Armenia is opening up new opportunities for cooperation between the two countries.
At the meeting, the parties discussed the need to deepen cooperation in the economic, educational, cultural, tourism, and legal spheres, as well as the exchange of experience.
