ArmInfo. New opportunities for cooperation with the Asian Development Bank were discussed at the RA Water Committee.
According to the committee's press service, during the meeting, the ADB delegation presented the latest changes to the Bank's technical assistance policy, available financial instruments, and new support mechanisms, including reimbursable technical assistance and the new "Project Support Lending" program support instrument approved this summer.
The possibilities for using these new instruments in the context of the preparation and implementation of priority projects in the water sector in Armenia were discussed. In particular, the modernization of wastewater treatment facilities in the towns of Gavar, Martuni, and Vardenis in the Lake Sevan basin, wastewater collection and disposal systems in adjacent rural settlements, and the construction of new reservoirs in Getik, Karmirgyugh, Garnahovit, and Yeghvard were mentioned.
Aramazd Ghalamkaryan, Chairman of the Water Resources Committee, noting the Asian Development Bank (ADB)'s flexible approach and the multifaceted cooperation established with the Bank, emphasized the strategic importance of the Committee and ADB's joint programs aimed at modernizing Armenia's water infrastructure.
ADB representatives noted that the new tools developed by the Bank can be used at the feasibility study, detailed design, site survey stages, as well as to ensure compliance with environmental and social safeguards, facilitating the preparation of high-quality programs in line with international standards.
