ArmInfo. The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) will meet in October, where a decision will be made on Russian restrictions on Armenian products. Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan announced this in an interview.
He stated that Armenia has appealed to the EEC with a request to recognize Russia's restrictions on the import of Armenian products into the EAEU market as a barrier to trade and to remove them.
As a reminder, starting in late May of this year, the Russian authorized bodies—Rospotrebnadzor and Rosselkhoznadzor—gradually imposed restrictions on the supply of fresh agricultural produce, flowers, fish, fish products, and dairy products from Armenia to Russia and the EAEU market. Armenia traditionally exported approximately 80-90% of these product groups to Russia. Due to the difficult situation faced by Armenian producers and exporters, the government is developing support programs to stimulate exports to the EU and other countries. In particular, this includes covering transportation costs and customs duties to enter new markets.
Thus, in mutual trade with Russia from January to July 2026, The following picture emerged: trade turnover decreased by 20.5% to $3.1 billion. Exports amounted to $1.4 billion, a year-on-year decline of 8%, while imports amounted to $1.7 million, a year-on-year decline of 28.8%.
Trends with the EAEU countries are also not encouraging. Mutual trade volume during the reporting period decreased by 18.4%, amounting to $3.3 billion. Exports, meanwhile, declined by 7.2% to $1.5 billion, while imports declined by 26.1% to $1.8 billion.
