RA Prime Minister: Programs implemented jointly with the IMF contribute to the effective implementation of the Armenian government`s reform program

ArmInfo. On September 29, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received Alexander Timan, head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission to Armenia.

According to the government's press service, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of the close cooperation established between the RA government and the IMF, as well as the joint programs being implemented in the country. In this regard, Nikol Pashinyan added that the programs implemented jointly with the IMF contribute to the effective implementation of the government's reform program.

Alexander Timan emphasized the effectiveness of the cooperation with the RA government and noted that the IMF is also interested in the consistent promotion of the joint program.

The parties discussed issues related to current cooperation and future programs. Macroeconomic trends and the main directions of fiscal and budgetary policy were discussed. An exchange of views on ongoing developments in the region, including infrastructure projects, also took place.

The International Monetary Fund has been cooperating with Armenia since 1992, supporting macroeconomic stability and structural reforms.

Cooperation is carried out under a 36-month Stand-By Arrangement program for SDR 128.8 million (approximately $175 million). The Armenian authorities use the program as a precautionary (safety net) financing line. In September 2026, an IMF mission led by Alexander Timan held meetings in Yerevan with the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Ministers Mher Grigoryan and Tigran Khachatryan to discuss the second SBA review and fiscal policy. The Fund supports public financial management and tax policy. In September 2026, the IMF noted Armenia's progress in integrating climate factors into infrastructure and public investment management. This cooperation comes amid stable economic indicators and moderate inflation in the country (around 4.4% in mid-2026).
