RA Prime Minister: August saw a new historical record for the number of income-generating jobs

ArmInfo. In August of this year, Armenia recorded a new historical record for the number of income-generating jobs. This was announced by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at a government meeting on October 1.

According to him, a study of statistical data shows that never before has there been a case of reaching a historical maximum in August. While growth has been observed year after year, this year is unique in that it represents the highest figure yet. The point is that the number of income-generating jobs in Armenia in August 2026 amounted to 830,417, which is 300,130 more than in August 2017.

At the same time, as Pashinyan noted, the total wage fund in August 2026 was 186 billion drams, or 208%, higher than in August 2017. Thus, the wage fund has grown almost fourfold. Interestingly, income tax payments in August 2026 increased by 37 billion drams, or 144%, compared to August 2017, and the average salary during this period increased by 161 thousand drams. or by 94%.

The Prime Minister emphasized the need to continue work in this area. Specifically, he noted that the list of goods subject to excise taxation will be expanded starting January 1, 2027, which will allow for a more effective fight against the shadow economy. Pashinyan expressed confidence that investment activity in the country will significantly increase and expand in the coming years.
