ArmInfo. In Armenia, the State Property Management Committee and the Water Committee will be removed from the structure of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia and will report directly to the Government of the Republic of Armenia. The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Armenia approved amendments to the Law "On the Structure and Activities of the Government" and a package of related laws at its meeting on October 1.

Presenting the amendments, RA Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure David Khudatyan noted that, according to the package, the State Property Management Committee will be renamed the State Assets Management Committee, and the Water Committee will be renamed the Land and Water Resources Committee. The need for the law is due to the high priorities related to land and water, which are set out in the government's program for 2026-2031. This concerns the development of drinking and irrigation water systems and the construction of water treatment plants. Currently, some of this work is carried out by the Water Committee, while others are carried out by the Ministry of Economy. Now, a single agency will handle all these issues.

Regarding the renaming of the State Property Management Committee to the State Assets Management Committee, the primary focus will be on the accounting and inventory of state property, its alienation, lease, and privatization, the management of state shares in state-owned companies, the assessment of the effectiveness of state property use, the protection of the state's property interests, and the coordination of state property management processes between various ministries and government agencies.
