ArmInfo. Employees of the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia have uncovered a case of mineral extraction without a subsoil use permit. This was reported in a statement by the SRC.
The source notes that the 5th Department of the SRC received operational information regarding illegal mineral extraction in the area adjacent to an andesite mine in the village of Karnut in the Shirak region of the Republic of Armenia. To verify the information, officers from the SRC's Operational Intelligence Department conducted investigative measures. As a result, the information was confirmed, specifically, it was established that a company operating in the road construction sector is extracting andesite-like rock from the area, transporting it, and laying it in the sub-asphalt layer of a road under construction in the Shirak region.
It was also established that the said company does not have, and has never had, a permit for the use of subsoil for mineral extraction in the Republic of Armenia. To clarify the volumes of mineral extraction, a letter was sent to the RA Inspectorate for Nature Protection and Subsoil Supervision as part of the measures taken. As a result of the relevant measurements, it was determined that from July 2025 to July 2026, 34,691 cubic meters of andesite rock massif were removed from an area of 10,363 square meters located in the administrative territory of Karnut, Akhuryan community.
Based on the factual data and circumstances obtained, an administrative case was initiated for the unauthorized use of subsoil resources. A report of the alleged crime was simultaneously filed with the General Department for the Investigation of Economic Crimes and Smuggling of the RA Investigative Committee, where a criminal case was initiated.
The SRC calls on citizens and business entities to refrain from exploiting subsoil or natural resources without a permit or license.
