ArmInfo. The agreement, reached on August 8, 2025, through the mediation of the United States, opens new opportunities for economic growth and prosperity for Armenia. The US Embassy in Armenia announced this in a statement.
The diplomatic mission reported that Caroline Wieck, a senior policy officer at the US International Development Corporation (DFC), visited Armenia this week to discuss opportunities to deepen Armenian-American economic cooperation.
"During meetings with representatives of the Armenian government and business community, issues of strengthening trade ties, expanding investment, and creating new opportunities for American and Armenian companies were discussed," the embassy said, also publishing Wieck's interview with Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty's Armenian Service.
In an interview with Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, the US official recalled that the DFC's mission is to promote the economic development of its allies and partners, as well as advance US foreign policy objectives through commercially viable investments.
She added that today the DFC is focused on three key global areas: the creation of diversified supply chains.
critically important raw materials, including strategic minerals, including all stages of extraction, processing, and final product development, as well as the associated infrastructure; strengthening strategic sectors through projects in the energy sector, geothermal, and hydropower; and critical infrastructure.
"The purpose of our visit to Armenia is to understand what opportunities exist here, what areas the Armenian government wants us to focus on, and what the country's priority sectors and projects are. We will focus our efforts on those areas where Armenia's priorities align with ours. We are also here to build a portfolio of potential investment projects. We are meeting with many businesspeople and looking for projects that we can implement in the next few years," she said.
When asked what specific US national interests the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) initiative serves, the official recalled that The State Department, working in partnership with the Armenian government, is leading the implementation of the TRIPP initiative.
"We are responsible for the financial component of the project. We are very pleased to be part of this peace agreement. Our teams are working very effectively to get the project off the ground as quickly as possible," said Vick.
When asked what portion of the $205 billion available to the DFC could be directed to Armenia, Vick emphasized that there are no funding quotas for individual regions or countries and that everything depends on specific projects.
According to her, the DFC is currently actively exploring investment opportunities, trying to find projects that can be implemented in the next few years.
"Today, we heard many proposals and ideas from both businesspeople, with whom we had a number of meetings, and government representatives. "In particular, we met with the Deputy Foreign Minister and other officials. We discussed a number of projects in the energy sector, including those related to battery-based energy storage systems and natural gas. We also touched on various planned superintelligence and data center projects. We are very interested in the possibility of supporting them, particularly using American equipment. We also discussed the areas of telecommunications, agriculture, strategic minerals, as well as additional infrastructure needed to develop the broader TRIPP corridor," the American official said. Pointing to the enormous potential for cooperation in Armenia, she promised to release more details once specific projects are identified and relevant deals are finalized.
Asked about US interests in the South Caucasus, Vick stated that Washington considers this region extremely important, as it offers enormous opportunities.
"One of our main goals is to support the development of the Trans-Caspian Corridor so that it becomes a major logistics corridor." To this end, we are considering a number of infrastructure investments that will help expand the region's transportation capabilities. This includes the development of highways, railways, ports, cargo transportation across the Caspian Sea, and related digital infrastructure," she said.
Noting that the TRIPP initiative is progressing very well, Vik emphasized that they continue to explore other investment opportunities.
"We met with many businesspeople today and hope to receive proposals from other companies with projects that the DFC can support. We are very interested in expanding our activities in Armenia," the American official concluded.
