Anahit Avanesyan: Healthcare expenditures in Armenia`s draft state budget for 2027 will increase significantly

ArmInfo. Healthcare expenditures in Armenia's draft 2027 state budget will increase significantly, reaching 348.1 billion drams. This was announced on November 3 by Armenian Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan at a hearing on the draft 2027 state budget held at a joint session of the National Assembly committees.

Of this amount, 275 billion drams, according to her, are allocated for expenses within the universal health insurance system, of which 176 billion drams are allocated for 100% subsidization of insurance packages for approximately 1.35 million citizens.

The minister noted that in 2027, the burden on the insurance system will be significant, as a group of citizens earning salaries of up to 200,000 drams will join it. According to the Ministry of Health's estimates, this applies to 350,000 people. They will pay 2,000 drams monthly, with the employer and the state covering the remaining 4,400 drams. Avanesyan named taxi drivers as the next major group to join the insurance system.

The 2027 budget also includes funds for the construction, reconstruction, and refurbishment of medical facilities. Specifically, 12 billion drams are planned for these purposes. Avanesyan recalled that, in accordance with the government's 2021-2026 program, the ministry has committed to modernizing 50 medical institutions and will fulfill this commitment by December 31. In the next phase, an additional 50 medical institutions are planned to be modernized.

Furthermore, according to the minister, the 2027 budget includes a large-scale retraining program for family doctors and nurses. Certain funds will also be allocated to launch a system for licensing doctors.
