Armenian-Iraqi Intergovernmental joint commission`s 3rd meeting in  Baghdad concluded with signing of protocol

ArmInfo.The third meeting of the Armenian-Iraqi intergovernmental joint intergovernmental  commission in Baghdad ended with the signing of a protocol.   Following its results, the Minister of Economy of Armenia Vahan  Kerobyan and the Minister of Agriculture of Iraq Abbas Al-Maliki  signed a protocol on the agreements reached within the framework of a  meeting of the intergovernmental commission.

According to the press service of the economic department, during the  meeting the participants discussed the prospects for bilateral  economic cooperation in the fields of trade, agriculture, finance,  telecommunications, high technology, cybersecurity, energy,  transport, infrastructure, healthcare, education, culture, sports and  tourism.

Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan noted that the meeting was held  with the aim of expanding bilateral cooperation, exchanging views  with Iraqi colleagues on the possibilities of interaction in the  areas of trade, energy, industry, agriculture, digitalization and  other areas of mutual interest.

Earlier, in the framework of his working visit to Iraq, Vahan  Kerobyan had meetings with the Iraqi president, ministers of  agriculture, urban development, housing, territorial administration  and trade.  According to the RA Statistics Committee data, in  January-July 2023, foreign trade turnover between Armenia and Iraq  decreased by 15.9%, amounting to $108.7 million. At the same time, a  decline was recorded in exports - by 16.2% to $108 million, with a  2.2-fold increase in imports, amounting to $737.6 thousand.
