Vahan Kerobyan: government is considering green hydrogen production  project

ArmInfo.The Armenian government is currently seeking to expand the country's renewable  energy capabilities and is discussing the implementation of a green hydrogen project. RA Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan said this during a consultation on the possibilities of the hydrogen economy,  with the participation of representatives of the Renewable Resources  and Energy Efficiency Fund of Armenia, the Aregakyan Energy Company and BDO Advisory auditing company.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Economy, the  participants discussed issues related to the production of hydrogen  in Armenia, the production of ammonia, the possibilities of storage,  transportation, production technologies, the construction of  infrastructure related to hydrogen, and ensuring distribution chains.

Days earlier, during hearings of the draft budget in Parliament, the  Minister of Economy announced that Armenia was considering the  possibility of producing green hydrogen with Germany. At this stage  the project is being assessed. "We have a good team consisting of  major Armenian scientists who have worked abroad and have high  professional qualities," he said.

This summer it became known that the Renewable Resources and Energy  Efficiency Fund of Armenia and the French Solges Energy Group CJSC  signed a Memorandum of Understanding  aimed at developing innovative,  renewable energy in Armenia, according to which it is planned to  build the first demonstration plant in the Republic of Armenia  hydrogen station. According to the Fund, the project also involves  the development, construction and operation of an innovative smart  grid for alternative energy generation. The project budget was not  disclosed.

According to the RA Statistics Committee, the share of renewable  energy in Armenia over 9 months accounted for over 9%. In particular,  615.3 million kWh of solar energy and 1.4 million kWh. wind energy  was produced during the reporting period.
