ArmInfo. . Residents of Armenia who have turned 100 or will turn 100 this year will receive a one-time payment of 1 million drams (slightly over $2,500). The corresponding decision was made at a government meeting on February 5.
A similar decision had previously been made by the Yerevan Council of Elders, and now, in order to ensure equal treatment for all centenarians in the country, the government has decided to extend this payment to citizens living in the regions.
There are 71 citizens of this age in Armenia, 29 of whom are in Yerevan (they will receive payments from the municipal budget) and 42 in the regions.
There is no need to apply for the money: it will be paid along with the pension (allowance) for the month following the person's 100th birthday. This decision does not apply to those who have already received (or will receive) 1 million drams by decision of the Yerevan Council of Elders. The lump sum will also not be paid to individuals who have lost their right to a pension, or in the event of the latter's death.
