Economy Minister: Armenia`s GDP to  exceed the budgeted figure by the  end of 2026

ArmInfo.Armenia's GDP growth is expected to exceed the budgeted figure by the end of 2026, as stated by Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan during a press-  briefing  on February 26.  He attributed this belief to the  government's policies, the business community's response, and the  country's growth rate.

The Minister mentioned that he had a similar opinion regarding the  2025 figures. The state budget projected a 5.1% GDP growth,  but the  last year's economic growth was actually 7.2%, equivalent to  approximately 230 billion drams. Therefore, according to him, the  budget received an additional 230 billion drams, which allowed for  the implementation of socially significant programs. In this regard,  the Minister mentioned the recent decision to increase pensions.

It should be noted that the Central Bank of Armenia, in its December  forecast, predicted GDP growth of 6.3-4.1% for 2026 and  4.9-5.3% in  2027. In 2025, according to the Central Bank's estimate, GDP growth  should remain at 5.9% (similar to the actual 5.9% growth in 2024).  According to the IMF's updated forecast in December, Armenia's GDP  growth will be 5% and 5.5% in 2025 and 2026. In its January forecast,  the World Bank (WB) predicts a slowdown in Armenia's GDP growth in  2026-2027 to 4.9-4.7% from an estimated 5.2% in 2025. Fitch Ratings,  in its January forecast update, expects sustainable economic growth  prospects for Armenia to be above 5% in 2026-2027.  Armenia's draft  state budget for 2025 projected GDP growth of 5.1%, while the 2026  state budget now projects 5.4% economic growth.
