ArmInfo. Armenia is currently exporting electricity to Iran, as stated by Davit Khudatyan, Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure (MTAI), on March 18 at a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Economic Affairs, when presenting a report on the progress and achievements of the implementation of the Government Program (2021-2026) for 2025.
In 2025, electricity generation in Armenia increased by 5.8%, reaching 9.7 billion kWh. Furthermore, consumption also increased to 7.2 billion kWh, which is 6.6% more than the 2024 figure. "Electricity exports to Iran and Georgia continued throughout the year, with exports to Iran still ongoing," he noted.
Additionally, solar power plants with an installed capacity of over 1,150 megawatts are currently connected to Armenia's energy system (compared to 1,100 megawatts at the end of last year). This is approximately 150 megawatts more than the 2030 target. And this figure continues to grow steadily. The increase compared to 2024 is approximately 43%. (Khudatyan has previously said that approximately 14% of all electricity generated in Armenia last year was generated by solar power plants.)
