Armenia strives to position itself as a leading R&D and technology  hub - Ruben Simonyan

ArmInfo. As part of its strategy for the next five years, Armenia is planning to position itself as a key research and development (R&D) and technology hub.  Ruben Simonyan, Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry of Armenia,  made this statement during a panel discussion on "Digital Infrastructure and the Real Economy" held as part of the Doing Digital 2026 forum.

According to him, the goal for the coming years is to create an  interconnected digital environment in which innovation will serve the  well-being of citizens.

During the discussion, the Deputy Minister touched on the  government's priorities and the main challenges facing the  implementation of the digital agenda. Specifically, he noted that the  digital transformation process is not limited to government services  alone, but also encompasses data systems, technological  infrastructure, and the interconnectivity of various platforms.

Simonyan highlighted cybersecurity as a key challenge and risk in the  industry, which, amid the integration of cutting-edge technologies  and artificial intelligence (AI) solutions, is becoming a matter of  vital importance. He also emphasized the importance of intellectual  property protection as the foundation of technological progress, as  well as public awareness, since the success of any digital solution  depends on society's readiness to embrace technological tools.
