ArmInfo. The Zangezur Copper and Molybdenum Combine CJSC is entering a new phase of productivity growth. In the near future, it plans to increase annual ore processing volume from 22 million tons to 30 million.
"The current production situation and indicators indicate the necessity to reconsider the process: the metal content in the ore is gradually decreasing, which requires new approaches. The most important point in this process is that there are no plans to increase the size of the mine or tailings dam to increase production. Volumes will expand within the same limits, while the open pit contours will remain the same," Arman Vardanyan, the company's technical director, said. He added that if the plant's productivity does not increase, its production indicators will decline.
To address this issue, ZCMC will soon hold two public hearings in Kapan and Kajaran, where all of the plant's programs will be presented, aimed at achieving the expected high performance. The company's management is ready to discuss projects and listen to comments and suggestions at the negotiating table.
It should be noted that Zangezur Copper Molybdenum Combine (ZCMC) is the largest mining company in Armenia. The plant operates the Kajaran copper-molybdenum deposit. The plant has ore reserves that will last for approximately 150 years.
