Not just flowers, but also vegetables and fruits - Rosselkhoznadzor  head on problems with Armenia

ArmInfo.  The temporary ban on flower imports from Armenia is to ensure phytosanitary safety. This statement was made by Sergei Dankvert, head of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance, to the Vesti news service.

According to Dankvert, Russia has sent its inspectors to Armenia, who  will decide on further flower shipments.

"The ban was imposed because we've been working for quite some time  to ensure the safety of these products specifically. Because at the  first stage, we placed a large number of enterprises under guarantees  directly from the inspection body of the Belarusian Food Safety  Service. And, as practice has shown, these guarantees are difficult.

Therefore, we tried to somehow mitigate this, but it didn't work out.  So, we were forced to reach an agreement and sent our inspectors  there. They're working there; they'll be there for another week. And  we'll make a decision based on the results of this inspection. The  problem is that it's not just flowers that are problematic. We also  have problems with vegetables and fruits. While this preparatory work  is underway, we're currently working to clarify: guarantees must be  fulfilled. You guaranteed the enterprise-please ensure that when you  issue documents, you inspect the safety of the products," Dankvert  stated.
