
ArmInfo.A major new chapter in Armenia’s AI development begins with the opening of the Firebird AI factory, as noted in a statement issued by the U.S. Embassy in Armenia, posted on its official Facebook page.
According to the source, Charge d’Affaires David Allen joined Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Firebird leadership in Hrazdan to mark the opening of Armenia’s flagship hyperscale AI facility.
The $4 billion investment brings cutting-edge American technology and AI infrastructure to Armenia, helping position the country as a regional hub for data centers, cloud computing, and AI innovation.
The opening is a tangible example of the growing U.S.-Armenia partnership in action, building on the momentum of the August 8 Washington Peace Summit and the three landmark U.S.-Armenia memoranda of understanding signed there, including on AI and semiconductor innovation.
As Charge d’Affaires Allen noted, when American and Armenian talent and innovation come together, they unlock new opportunities for economic growth, technological transformation, and greater prosperity.
Recall, this facility is a cutting-edge artificial intelligence computing infrastructure designed to train and run AI models, as well as to perform large-scale and complex computational tasks. The first phase of the AI Factory, located near Hrazdan on an area of approximately 200,000 square meters, is planned to be equipped with more than 6,000 NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs with a capacity of approximately 18 MW. The investment volume for the first phase of the megaproject is $500 million. Subsequent phases of the project plan to significantly expand the infrastructure's computing capacity by equipping it with next- generation NVIDIA Vera Rubin GPUs, thereby creating one of the largest clusters of advanced AI computing power in emerging markets.
In the second phase, the total investment will reach over $4 billion, and the infrastructure will be equipped with approximately 50,000 next-generation NVIDIA Vera Rubin GPUs, creating the largest cluster of the world's most advanced AI processors in emerging markets. The first phase of the project plans to create approximately 100 permanent jobs, and the second phase is expected to increase the number of employees to 300.
