ArmInfo. On September 12, a meeting between representatives of Armenia and Iran will take place on the Iranian-Armenian border. By decision of RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, an Armenian delegation headed by RA State Revenue Committee Chairman Eduard Hakobyan will be sent to Iran to participate in the bilateral border meeting.
As reported by the RA government press service, the meeting will take place at the "Norduz" border crossing and in the city of Julfa.
It is expected that following the meeting, a protocol on the establishment of a simplified customs corridor will be signed between the RA State Revenue Committee and the Customs Administration of the IRI. On September 3, the RA government approved the signing of this document, under which Armenia and Iran will exchange advance information on goods and vehicles transported through the territories of the two states. The protocol will apply to law-abiding economic operators, for whom a simplified customs control and customs clearance procedure will be applied.
To facilitate the transportation of goods, the Iranian side proposed establishing a simplified customs corridor on the Armenian-Iranian border and submitted a corresponding project to implement this goal. In particular, it is envisaged that, in order to use the simplified customs corridor, prior to the importation of goods and vehicles into the territory of the other side, the parties will electronically exchange information on the goods, vehicles and participants in foreign economic activity, including freight forwarders and their employees, in accordance with the conditions established by the protocol. The simplified customs corridor is intended to apply to entities whose activities are characterized by a low risk of violating customs legislation. The simplifications will apply to all types of vehicles, except personal vehicles, and to all types of cargo, as well as to Armenian and Iranian entities that will use the simplified customs corridor on a voluntary basis.
