ArmInfo. Armenia reduced its diamond exports by 62.2% in the first half of 2026 (compared with an almost twofold decline a year earlier) to 73.7 thousand carats. At the same time, the customs value decreased by 14.1% to $51.3 million. This is evidenced by data from the Customs Service of the Republic of Armenia.
Russia (59.8%) and the UAE (27.3%) accounted for the bulk of diamond exports, with considerably smaller shares going to Belgium (5.8%) and Israel (4%), while much smaller volumes were supplied to the US, Thailand, Georgia, the US, Canada, Germany, Belarus, and Norway.
Diamond imports amounted to 115.2 thousand carats, marking a year-on-year decline of 52% (compared with a twofold decline a year earlier). The customs value of imported diamonds decreased by 23.7% to $49.4 million. Diamonds were imported mainly from India (46.4%) and the UAE (27.4%), and in much smaller volumes from Canada (4.8%) and Hong Kong (4%), while very small volumes came from Belgium, Namibia, Angola, Botswana, Israel, Canada, South Africa, Hong Kong, Brazil, China, Japan, Lebanon, Russia, and Tanzania.
According to statistical data, in the first half of 2026, the output of the jewelry industry increased by 17% year-on-year to 14.5 billion drams. ($39.5 million). Over the two-year period, the share of precious metals/stones in exports decreased from 71% to 17%, while in imports it fell from 55% to 6%, amounting to $589 million and $394 million, respectively, in the first half of 2026.
