ArmInfo. This year, Armenia's premier technology event, the DigiTec exhibition and conference, will become one of the largest platforms for artificial intelligence (AI) in the region. Armen Kocharyan, Chairman of the Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises (UATE), announced this at a press conference on September 23.
According to him, this year's event will be held from November 20 to 22 under the slogan "A New AI Node in the World" and will bring together technology leaders, entrepreneurs, investors, and public sector representatives from the US, Europe, the Persian Gulf, and Central Asia.
The DigiTec conference will feature approximately 150 international speakers from leading companies such as NVIDIA, OpenAI, Microchip Technology, Revolut, Mozilla, AWS, Dell, Field AI, and others. The program will also include a dedicated DigiHub hall for professional presentations, the international OpenTalks.AI program, and additional opportunities to network directly with industry leaders. The Digitec exhibition, in turn, will feature over 200 local and international companies, startups, business delegations, and investors. Kocharyan noted that since 2005, when the first Digitec was held, Armenia has transformed from a technology user into a technology producer. "And this year's Digitec will be even larger, because we already have companies creating technologies that are in international demand," he said. At the same time, the head of the Union emphasized that Digitec has changed over the past 20 years, or rather, its strategic goal has evolved. - it's no longer just Armenian, but international.
Davit Tadevosyan, Minister of High-Tech Industry and Artificial Intelligence of Armenia, took part in the press conference.
Noting that over 30,000 participants attended Digitec last year, and more than 20 startups from over 30 countries were represented at the exhibition, he expressed hope that this year's figures will be exceeded. "Digitec itself embodies the model we would like all tech companies in Armenia to adopt." "From a modest startup idea to reaching a status where the company's role and influence extend beyond Armenia," the minister said.
UATE Executive Director Edita Ghazaryan reported that the Digitec program will also include technical workshops, discussions, and a robotics competition initiated by the Armat laboratory, in which approximately 400 children will participate. Additionally, an Investor Tour will be organized, during which representatives of investment and venture funds from more than 60 countries will visit startup companies. Furthermore, Digitec will hold a startup competition, during which the startups will present their ideas to investors.
Ghazaryan also spoke about the upcoming visit of government delegations, including from Qatar, Georgia, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan. Speaking about the latter, the Union's Executive Director noted that a large, representative delegation led by the country's Deputy Prime Minister is expected from Kazakhstan.
It's worth noting that DigiTec's history began in 2005. Its founder was the undisputed leader of the Armenian technology community, the longtime director of UATE, the late Karen Vardanyan.
According to the Statistical Committee, Armenia's information and communication technology (ICT) sector grew by 12.1% year-on-year in the first half of 2026 (versus 12.6% growth a year ago), generating revenue of 622.4 billion drams ($1.6 billion). The information technology sector alone generated revenue of 341.1 billion drams, a 14.3% annual growth rate.
