ArmInfo. At a meeting of the Public Services Regulatory Commission, chaired by Commission Chairman Mesrop Mesropyan, a decision was made to establish a new requirement for the publication of the power factor of electricity in the power grid.
According to the decision, Electricity System Operator CJSC is required to publish information on the permissible ranges of the established power factor on its official website by December 1, 2026.
The relevant information relates to the demarcation points of the power system at which the distributor and qualified consumers must ensure the proper operation of the power system under their control while adhering to the established permissible ranges.
The new regulation is intended to promote the reliable and efficient operation of the power system and clarify the relationship between the power system operator and licensed entities operating in the electricity market.
Note that the power factor is the ratio of useful active power to apparent power in an AC network, indicating
the efficiency of electricity use. The value ranges from 0 to 1, and the closer it is to 1, the more efficient the network.
