"The import of high-value breeding animals is one of the important areas of the livestock development program implemented by the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia." "As part of the programs implemented by the Ministry, 2,785 heads of breeding cattle have already been imported to Armenia," the ministry said in a statement.
It should be noted that, as part of the government's program for the development of livestock in Armenia for 2019-2024, breeding heifers of Holstein, Swiss, Simmental, Montbéliard, and Jersey cattle breeds are imported to the republic. These heifers and their offspring annually produce more than 2,400 heads of high-value offspring. Although limited, this represents a rich gene pool for improving the breeding and productive characteristics of beef cattle bred in the republic.
Furthermore, at a meeting on May 21 of this year, the government amended the livestock development program for 2025-2029 with the aim of creating more favorable conditions for beneficiaries interested in the development of livestock farming.
