
ArmInfo. In Armenia, freight traffic accelerated in January-August 2026 to 6.9% (from 1.1% a year earlier), reaching 11,357,400 tons. This is according to data from the RA Statistics Committee.
In particular, rail freight traffic accelerated in year-on-year growth from 17.4% to 23%, reaching 1,288,100 tons, while air freight traffic, conversely, slowed in year-on-year growth from 5% to 4.4%, reaching 26,200 tons. Improvement in year-on-year dynamics was noted for road freight traffic, with a 3.2% increase from a 0.2% decline, reaching 8,600,200 tons. The main pipeline delivered 1,442.9 thousand tons of natural gas, an 18.4% year-on-year increase (versus a 1.8% decline a year ago).
Passenger transportation increased by 12.9% during the reporting period (versus a 2.7% decline a year ago), reaching 170,599.5 thousand passengers. Automobile passenger transportation improved year-on-year, rising from a 0.3% decline to 12.3%, reaching 144,307.2 thousand passengers. Air passenger transportation accelerated from 4.6% to 12.1%, reaching 4,243.4 thousand passengers. Passenger transportation by electric transport grew by 17.3% year-on-year (versus a 17.7% decline a year ago), reaching 21,732,400 passengers. Meanwhile, rail passenger transportation continued to decline, with a slight slowdown from 9.5% to 8.8%, reaching 316,500 passengers.
As a result, freight turnover increased year-on-year by 13.6% to 3,306.5 million tonne-km, and passenger traffic increased by 11.5% to 3,360.5 million passenger-km.
